Chatchai Phromlert said 251,873 families in 4,609 villages were affected and 14 people had died as a consequence of flooding in the past month. Nine of the provinces still hit by flooding were in the Northeast - Amnat Charoen, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Nakhon Phanom, Nakhon Ratchasima, Roi Et, Sakon Nakhon, Ubon Ratchathani and Yasothon. In Sakon Nakhon, floods affected 135,044 families in 1,267 villages and nine people had died. Mr Chatchai said heavy rain had fallen over the area from July 5 to Aug 2 and caused flooding in 7,713 villages of 44 provinces.
